Help ID Copper Mark

I think it reads "double CM". Any idea who the mark may belonged to?

What is the marking on the opposite side of that center circle?

 

This larger size *might* be easier for old eyes . . .

 

A square or rectangular maker's mark on French silver would indicate that it's silverplate - solid silver maker's marks, from 1838 on, would be in a diamond/lozenge shape cartouche. The other mark is '10 E'. have seen it on other French silverplated holloware, assumed that it was an indicator of the amount of silver used for the plating (which is almost completely worn off the copper base metal on this piece).

it is hard to believe that the piece was once plated with silver. it is just completely gone. unless the silver was partly washed out and someone decided to scrub the rest of it.

 

Unless your pics are deceptive, I see a slight amount of residual plating - regardless, it was originally a silverplated piece as indicated by the marks.

Have seen some pieces intentionally stripped of silver. Most still have some residual silver in places as this appears.
