Is this silver?

What do you say about the stamps? Is this silver?

 

The crowned N looks like a Sheffield date letter. I don't know which one but someone else here might know it.
I think you should try giving the other mark a little wipe to see if it shows better.

 

Not British, it would have all 4 marks.

 

I said before I was HORRIBLE with marks......see, now, I would have said that was an N with a tiny piece of toast above it!!!!!

 

Something in my head thinks that's a French maker.
