Your black ones may well be jet, and the amber looks as though it's glass. That's the usual thing to get on those metal chains. Big bead is Chinese cloisonne.

    The ivory beads are.... ivory.

The black necklace looks like 'French jet', which is a fancy name for glass. You can see if it is jet by gently rubbing an inconspicuous part on fine sandpaper, if it leaves a black mark it is jet.

Here is a site with info on how to test for amber:
    http://www.green-crafts.com/content/how-recognize-genuine-amber

And, just for fun, here is a thread where many of us showed our true colours over amber and much more:

The cloisonné enamel beads are mid-century Chinese.

    Hey Mrs B!!
The amber coloured ones are warm, not glass...don't really feel like plastic but could be
Many thanks, will look into testing it!

The ivory beads are definitely ivory, but what do you think the non ivory ones are? x

Going off to look at the amber discussion now!!

The amber color ones are too perfectly matched to be amber, sorry to say. No two bits of amber are exactly alike, and anything that perfect wouldn't be on what looks like brass. The blue ones are Chinese cloissone. The top one looks like something a crafter made from bits and bobs of anything handy. I've made more than a few that way myself.
