    This bird was in a box lot. It measures 5"L 3" W 3.5" H
It is partially cased and the bottom is different (too me at least" How was this made (no mold lines) ? Is decoration painted on fired on? Lastly by whom or where was it made? Too many questions, I feel like a child.

It's formed in a gather, the different colors is frit (small pieces of colored glass) picked up on a clear gather. The techique is one that is similar to that used to make paperweights.

Looking at the head more, I'm not sure it is Iittala, maybe just made to imitate. But without holding, I still think it is completely made of glass

Thanks to all of you for responding.
    MsGood2Shoe, I don't think it is Oiva Toikka .
The pics that you linked to all have very fine pointed beaks, mine has a more rounded one.
Yes, the bottom seems polished. I really learned something new about the gather and frit. The colored parts do feel like glass opposed to enamel. I will continue to look.

Yes a Toikka would be signed. This looks like it was made to imitate his style though.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

I think the coloring and finish are lovely!!! Does the front half come off???

The front does not come off. It is like the body is one piece of the colored glass. The clear head and rounded over lay is a second piece of attached glass.

Uh. Enamel is powdered glass that has been fused....

There's a fair few glass makers who've used this technique, including Wedgwood - not that this is one of theirs. I'm trying to haul the most likely suspect out of my addled brain.
