Yes I always have at least one question lol.
I have these six, four are marked Gorham Sterling.
the other two are the same pattern (Fairfax) but have a what looks like a sideways G. Is this a Gorham mark also, And the two with that stamp are shorter by about 3/4"? Oops that's two questions, hope no one notices

Fairfax, a popular pattern for decades, was introduced when Durgin was already a division of Gorham (some items produced bear both Gorham and Durgin trademarks), the Durgin-marked pieces would be older. Even though the flat butters are place pieces, they might bring better profit sold singly rather than as a group...

Thanks Cheryl, so are they considered the same. The Durgin ones are smaller?

It is the same pattern, the Durgin plant closed in 1931, but the name, designs, and dies still belonged to Gorham - unless something's changed recently, Fairfax is still in production, one of the four remaining Gorham stock patterns for Lifetime Brands. Not unusual for flatware pieces in the same pattern to change in size or shape over the years - as said, the Durgin-marked butter spreaders will be older, and might appeal to some for that reason, but can't say that I've really seen much difference in price (the Shreve & Co. pouches might have some value too)...
