Good place to sell sterling silver Items?

I recently retired and have been attending estate auctions. I buy mostly Sterling (not jewellery) items and silver coins. I have listed them on Ebay and others to some success. I usually buy high quality sterling items and MS grade coins along with any other various non silver junk under $2 at close! The problem I am having is I get 100 emails a day saying I will give you spot price for this and that for items that are valued much higher.

I guess what I am asking - Is there an auction site where bidders are a little more educated on the items listed.

Most of it is only selling for scrap value everywhere.

Scrap value exceeded the item value on most pieces some time ago.

Even replacements.com has some items priced at scrap.

 

Robert, do you list them for a set price?

 

I love silver......but selling my silver at scrap prices is .....well ...I'll just hold it until the Hunts show up again.

 

You can do better on the jewelry, but it has to be something not modern or mass-produced. Some designer pieces do well, but most modern sterling....might as well melt it.

 

If I were going to sell my silver hoard I'd go to a decent antiques fair. I'd sell out pretty quickly because at prices about 20% over metal value the punters would consider everything dead cheap and at the end of the day I could sell off any remnants to a scrap buyer.
I don't need the money at the moment so the bits can stay and decorate the house and table.
