Well, i don't think it's a dresser, more like a display or dining room cupboard. Where are you & where did you get the cupboard?

It was left to me by mother

It's not a dresser, but rather an aesthetic movement etagere ca. 1880-90, designed for display. Very nice, but the wood appears to have been refinished, which doesn't help the value.

It would have been beautiful in it's original state.
It looks like quality, and those Japonaiserie panels are gorgeous. They look out of place after the 'treatment' the display cabinet got.

It looks like its been stripped.
Pine was treated with Nitromors, to remove varnish and paint in the 80`s and 90`s.

Oh dear, that's to bad, it does look almost "new".

And restoring the wood would probably be very labour intensive and time consuming.
Would the mirror doors have been in the top and the painted panels in the bottom?

Does anybody have an idea of it's worth?

Not a clue here as it's out of my field of interests but, ghopper or brad as well as others probably can.

My guess is that the wood was originally ebonized, i.e. stained black. Since it no longer has its original finish, in the U.S. midwest it would probably only bring $300-$400 in these days of the Antique Depression. 15 years ago, with its original finish, it would have brought several thousand $.
