    Hi everybody!

    Another one..

I have bought this glass epergne + metal ?"Putti"? a couple of months ago.
As soon as I received I've hid it.. I think it's the most ugly piece I've ever had :p

The sculpture, which is made of a kind of metal, might be spelter..
    (might be something else).

I think it's showing: "Joris en de Draak" something Dutch, but I'm not sure.
Which would make the whole piece Dutch I guess...

Somebody on facebook just confirmed it's late 19th/early 20th century.
I wasn't sure, because the piece looks a little cheap to me to be honest.

The glass weight almost nothing, plus the gold color doesn't look like gold at all, and shows wear at some places the metal underneath is is coming through.

All I want is to determine it's:
    -Age
    -Origin
    -Type of Glass
-Type of metal (it's not magnetic btw)
    -Who is it showing

The sooner I know, the sooner I can get rid of it :p

I hope somebody can help me out with this one ;)

    Thank you very much!!

Joris in Dutch equals George in English. St George and the Dragon.

He's no putto. (Cherub) "Putti" is plural and there's one of him.

I'd not call it an epergne, but hey.

The glass is rather nice. Quite possibly Stourbridge made.

Possibly glass is vaseline, not sure.

The gold color on the surface appears to be a re-paint, it hasn't oxidized to the same extent as the underside of the base. Also, the "arms" that extend from the base seem to end too abruptly, does close examination make you think maybe they have broken off?

I'm not sure. It could be, and it WOULD be a good reason to repaint it. But where should it stop if it wasn't broken. Honestly it mostly was the paint that makes it look so cheap. Now that I payed more attention to the in-/underside, it probably would be a way nicer piece if it wasn't messed with. But there's probably nothing I can do about it. Paint it again? That would make officially re-painted. Gold leaf? Noth really worth it.

I agree, maybe tazza would describe it better.

Looks like an epergne to me, having a flower holder and bowl. That is a removable flower vase in the third photo, is it not?
Epergne aren't limited to mulptiple flower holders or without bowls.

You are right, I missed the flute in the 3rd photo. Thanks for pointing it out.

I don't think so when it's that green.

I like the glass too :)
