    Hi everybody!

Another item I bought this week:

A green opaline glass perfume bottle / chatelaine.
It has a brass cap + it's original stopper.

    I assume it's French, 19th Century.
    Approximately 1880 or something.

I don't really have much questions about it, just wanted to post it anyway ;)

Maybe somebody could confirm it's date and origin.

    Thank you very much!

I wouldn't call that opaline. Green satin glass.
    Did I miss the measurements?
Is it small enough to be on a necklace?

    Very pretty.

It's height is: 6,5 cm / 2,56 inch. (excluding the chain)

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THAT!!! If memory serves me correctly the ring was to go around miladys finger so the bottle was always ready to rid the senses of the offending odors the times were filled with.....

I agree with buyingtime - a scent bottle (similar to the intended purpose of a vinaigrette.)

The term chatelaine normally applies to the central piece from which individual items are attached for ease of access, not to the individual "tools" or necessaries that hang from it.

If the piece of pink batting retains any of the scent I would leave it with the piece BTW. I really enjoy getting an old scent bottle that retains a hint of the long gone contents. It would certainly enhance it in my eyes.
