Hi, these are my best furniture street-finds, from Maine. I made the jute twine seat, as original cane was deteriorated. It's oak, with what appears cherry or other figured wood veneer on back rest.

The console table is also oak. It has nice knight motif on handle. I'm thinking the chair is much older than the desk. Any thoughts about style and period would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm betting that table had a marble top originally. Not bad for street scrap! I think the table is from about 1900. Not sure of the chair.

Thanks everlyb, I'm not seeing indication of marble top; the top wood is very nice. That would be cool if it's c. 1900; I was guessing around 1940.

Those spool turnings on the side were a hot "thing" in the 1890s until a few years before WWI.

That's awesome, thanks! A friend just pointed out it's more of a console table than a desk.

Probably - but you can do what you want with it now.

Wow you seem right on about 1890s as I'm finding images online of same Victorian knight-in-armor drawer pulls.

I'm adding additional pics of chair in hopes knowledgeable viewers might offer info. The nails are not quite square-head, more like slightly rounded rectangular nails. The brass screw is my repair. Thanks. 20201009_134039.jpg 20201009_134428.jpg 20201009_133918.jpg
