No idea but I would love to hear more about this little guy. My complete non educated no idea what I'm talking about guess is that it looks like a genuine Victorian era piece.

Chris Mount, can you tell what the "portrait" inside the inner oval frame is made of?

From where I sit and what I can see it "almost" looks like it is on cloth of some sort. ;)

This is one for the costume joolies, they may know the mark.
The pin places it well into the 20th century. Is there still a clasp? That would help date it, but my current guess is 1950s-60s. Knowing the mark helps to date it too.
What look like replaced beads are actually worn faux pearls. When the outer layer has worn away, you see the core material of the beads. The one that looks like a pearl is probably the only replacement.
The pretty portrait is a print, that is why you see those dots.

1950s Victorian Revival. I'm trying to remember who the mark is: Exquisite, I think.

JMHO, the hinge and texture on the back point to a fairly recent piece. The image is printed on paper, you can see the dot pattern. It looks like the clasp is broken off, is that right?

The 4 white pearls look like they have their coating rubbed off, the pinkish one is a bad replacement.

Sorry, I don't recognize the mark.

If the clasp is broken I don't think there is much you can do to make it usable, any repair would cost a lot more than its value. If the clasp is good then you could remove and replace all 6 pearls and if possible replace the portrait. It will never have a lot of value, but it would look a whole lot better.

Unless it has sentimental value, it is no use trying to revive it, imho. Maybe one for a kid's dress up box.

I'm pretty sure that this is my 8,954th dumb question here on the Antiquers Forum but . . . IF the portrait had been printed on fabric would I (we) still see the "dots" from a print or would it depend on the type and/or depth of color of the fabric? ;)

Thank goodness DH is running errands right now so I don't have to listen to any "molecular biology" yap, yap, yap.

You can see dots if the fabric is a very fine weave. And no, it is not a dumb question.

1960s costume in very poor condition.

If you have a box for re purposing, this is an item for that box.

Some were; this one isn't. I concur that it's a seriously messed up piece of 50s-60s costume. The casting of the metal gives the game away. It was never mean to fake anyone out as to its age.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

At times I like to wear costume jewelry that is somewhat damaged / deteriorated. Just a quirk, I guess. The only thing that might bother me with this one is if that rectangle in the middle of her face is a loss of the actual image. And how would that happen, unless somebody had taken it apart?

Odds are the image is printed onto the "stone" rather than being under celluloid. Anything could have happened.
