Does anyone recognize the maker's mark on this 830 silver Sølje, or Norwegian wedding brooch?
830 S is the silver fineness, I've been looking for the maker, the symbol on the right, can't find anything.
    Thanks for looking.

Lovely....I have a couple of those.....some with more dangles, but they do come in all "sizes".

I don't think the maker is as important as the piece itself. I could be wrong about that, but when I do find one, and if the price is "right", I buy it. I really do not care as to who the maker might be.

    Others may feel differently tho.

Do the dangles have a gold wash?

    Thanks Judy.
I also have a couple, love them, but never wear them, so end up selling them (and buying new ones). I also had matching earrings. Sølje always sell well.
The big names like Marius Hammer or David Andersen do fetch more, but if this was made by one of the famous silversmiths, I probably would have found the mark.
The dangles on this one don't have gold wash, I've only seen that on post-1950 dangles, maybe a later development?

I have not heard of Marius Hammer, but yes to David Anderson.

I do wear mine occasionally. I would have to look for them tho, as I have a bad habit of wearing them, and leaving them on that garment, and go crazy searching when I want to wear them again.

I don't know about when the gold wash was incorporated....and not even sure if all of mine have it....out of sight.........out of mind......until I attend the Scandinavian Fair in November and have to search which Norwegian sweater/jacket I left it on.

Oops, tricky, with all that finicky filigree and dangles. And nerve-wrecking, I know the feeling.:nailbiting:

    I'm in love!

TY for posting. Something else for me to look for while antiquing.

Hopefully when in Stockholm next year, I'll see one window shopping!!

Not your typical Solje for sure.

I shall google MH just for fun!!

Pleasure. And good hunting in Stockholm.
If I ever find a reasonably priced Marius Hammer Sølje, it will definitely be a keeper.

That 'butterfly' mark has shown up on the 925-1000 forums a few times, believe always on solje jewelry, but don't believe it was ever identified...

Norwegian enameled gold and silver is amazing. Even Carl Fabergé employed Norwegian gold/silversmiths for his famous enamelware.
