Could this Naval Academy ring be a fake?

Saw this and was thinking of buying as a gift, but not sure is authentic. There are casting flaws visible inside. It does have the Josten mark, a good sign, not sure what other Mark with C is. Shows verrry little wear, way less than expected for one made in 71 and presumably worn for decades? Nothing in ad about the diamond-good, bad, ?? The exterior cast-in design, including class crest, is 100% correct, maybe that's enuf to prove it is ok?

Real or repro, maybe gold plated?

What would you say is the metal value of the 14k gold? "Ring weighs 32 g."

I'm just guessing you don't know a lot about jewelry,but from the photos the ring is a piece of junk.The original owner's name has been sanded out,the inside "casting" flaws are from someone over stretching the ring to size it up.It also appears the inside lining is separated in a number of areas,vertical cracks on inside edge from over stretching,chain border at the top has been worn flat.Possibly more,but can't tell from just over bright photos.

It's pretty, but it's a mess. I wouldn't want it unless it was a family piece. If it's Dad's ring, who cares about the condition. Anything else, fuggedaboutit.
