    Hi all,
Please be gentle...I am looking for information on these ivory boxes. We know nothing about them other than they are ivory. The smaller box with the male figure is about 3" across and about 1/2" tall.
The box with the female figure is larger at 4" across and about 2 1/2" tall.
I am guessing that they are patch boxes, but have no idea on a possible time frame, who the figures are, and what they were used for.
Thanks in advance! Box male.jpg Box male.jpg Box female.jpg

They appear to be Regency era. (Think Jane Austen.) May just be beau idéals. Thought the male figure might be Wellington at first but much too pretty. You might do a Google Image search of each (cropped) and see if they're portrait reproductions.

I was just thinking how much he reminded me of Napoleon! :D

Clever! It does look like a prettified Napoleon.

Is the other one Josephine or the second wife? If they're a pair I wouldn't be surprised. If they're not, she's some other pretty lady of the day.

I cannot think what you mean by “prettified”...

Jokes aside, the lady looks like the lovely Princess Amelia IMO, though her clothes look more European. May well be a private sitter whose name is lost.

I think that may be an interpretation of Princess Amelia.
