The second, says Gravure paper. I thought I would keep them safe like this. And hang them on my wall until I figure out what to do with them. Framing ok for old newspapers?
...and have I said Thank you lately?
Too many things, too many questions. Very much appreciate the guidance ~ Thank you all P9170023 (640x480) (2).jpg P9170024 (640x480).jpg P9170025 (480x640).jpg

If you want them to last for a long time, you should make sure that the framing materials that touch the newsprint are acid-free - the backing and the matting.

What you use to secure the newsprint to the backing should also be appropriate for archival use.

And the glass should be UV inhibitive.
And don't have them facing sunlight directly or by reflection.

If you really want them around, invest in some de-acidifying spray. Newspaper is highly acidic and it will eat itself sooner or later, no recourse to a high acid mount required. Really old newspapers don't have the problem, but from the way this has toned it probably does.

    Hi,
The Library of Congress uses the same solution that I use to save old newspapers.
Equal parts of club soda and an antiacid, I usually use Maalox. Soak the news paper in the mixture for a half hour and lay flat to dry. When totally dry lightly brush off any remaining powder. I have newspaper clippings from the 1950 that still look brand new. Then archive the pieces and frame.

Wow, Thank you! I will definitely do that if it works. One question though -
There are multiple pages to that paper you see framed. Can I keep them together in the frame?

Not left wet together for sure.
My guess is they will fuse together if you don't separate them.
    That mix may negate this.

    Hi,
T he Library saves copies of daily newspapers this way. Each sheet is stabilized and folded together to save the entire newspaper. I am sure you could frame several sheets together. I have several sheets folded together after the bath.
