Hey guys picked these up for $30 a piece. Might have overpaid on the cameo one but nonetheless still cool IMO. The setting is messed up but the cameo is still good. The cameo is 10k and the other is 14k with a glass stone. How would you date these? I would think the cameo is pre 1930s while the 14k one is around 1950s? Also, came with some antique gold filled clutches. Finally, the sticks on these are somewhat bent. I tried bending them back carefully but fear I could snap them and make everything much worse. Thoughts?

I think they were both for men's ties, and they're older than you think. It's a pity the cameo one is such a mess. I think the cameo fell out of the setting at least once, and those breaks are either the cause or the result.

Yes, they are older, I think late 19th century for the cameo and early 20th century for the one with the ruby (synthetic?).
The last one reminds me of Charles Horner style, but is not marked as such.
If you don't feel comfortable bending them, then you'd better not.

Thanks again! Older than I thought, may take them to a jeweler to see about getting them straight. It unfortunately isn't a ruby, I was told it was glass but still not 100% sure on that. The clutches these came with are cool!

It could well be glass, that was used a lot in those days, also in gold jewellery.
Would love to see the clutches.

The bezel on the cameo is "trashed",someone with good experience with a laser welder might make work.

Oh yes, the clutch clasps were already there.:banghead:
I got caught up in the Charles Horner style, that happens a lot.:D

Yes, and that would make a secure bezel for the cameo too. The way it is, I wouldn't dare to wear it.

The cameo is quite loose inside. For the right price I will have it fixed up! Surprised on the fact the 14k stickpin is so much earlier that I thought. Unfortunately the only marking on the whole piece is 14k, wish there was a maker's mark.
Now both these piece are stickpin correct? Or are they a tie pin?

The cameo just isn't loose,it may not be original to the pin.The only way the bezel would look that way is for someone to force it open with a blade or other tool.

Don't sink any money into repairing the cameo one. It will cost you more than the pin will ever be worth. Cameo itself from 40s/50s. It does look like it may be a replacement perhaps for another cameo that fell out or broke. This one only worth the melt down value.

Like the other one. The only stone I can think of that can be that color (assuming my monitor is showing it accurately) is tourmaline. Suspect this is glass, but still a striking piece. Could be worn as a man's cravat or lapel pin, or by anyone for a touch of pizzazz.
