Looks like a nice diorama of an early 19th C. barque.

Been busy at my real job. I absolutely love the vintage bridal dress. That's what I would wear, wouldn't worry about any spots. I did find these 800 silver and marcasite pink conch shell earrings at a church sale. I like cameos, but I really like cameos with pretty faces:

Marko - what pretty pearl earrings! I like their modern-organic-ness (my own made up term).

OK ... I'll play along with the finds thread. I gathered most of what I've found in the past two weeks ... there have been an unusual amount of sales/auctions recently.

Old decanter bottle w/ cut flutes, old wine glasses - Ashburton plus 3 of yet unidentified pattern, hair receiver, tiny kirschwasser jug, teeny, tiny handmade violin, assorted jewelry/dress clips.

I found an oil painting at an antique store that I have bought a lot of things from, $500 Black Forest Grandfather clock, abstract painting for $700 etc. I've spent a little money in there. When I found this oil painting in the restroom, I asked the the store owner how much it was. It wasn't priced. He said that the consigner hadn't come up with a price yet. It was an early painting of a gondola in a canal. It was very well done. The store owner said he will contact the consigner to see about a price, he took my number and said he would call, he never called. A few weeks later I went back in and he said the consigner took it. I felt that was very rude of him to not have called me and tell me the painting wasn't for sale. How should I handle my relationship with this seller?

Thanks CX, and thank you for helping ID that scarf. I guess I should've known what is was, especially since Fig and others helped me ID a Russian one I found not to long ago. Again, thank you!

@Marko, I love those Mikimoto earrings. Very, very nice!

    @Shi, thank you so much!

It appears that Guanyin figure found this past weekend ($77 lot, page 99) is much better and older than I originally thought. Below are images of the one found and links to two very similar pieces that recently sold at auction and on eBay:

image.jpg image.jpg I got this from a thrift store about a year ago or so. It's the only Delft that I have. I spotted this about five aisles over and made a mad dash to it. I knew it looked really lovely but didn't know it was Delft. There's just a small chip at the base. Other than that, it's in great condition.

    Hi Armando,
I would forgive the shop owner. You have no idea how many people ask a price and never return. I thought working in a shop would be a breeze. I offered to "babysit" a friends store for two weeks. I was so glad when she returned. I did not mind the shoppers persay but as to all the administration work what a headache. Better to be an employee than the boss.

I think that's that road to take. Like I've said, I've bought quite a bit from him. I don't want to burn a bridge that may lead me to a rare item.

I found a few things this weekend.

A slag glass hanging light. Art Nouveau? Deco? I have to change the plug. This looks dangerous to me. I'm keeping this for a while.

I found this half round 16" Curio. I haven't cleaned it yet. I'm not sure how old it is but for $5 I couldn't pass it up.

Plus, 3 paintings but I only have photographs of 1. My favorite. I posted this on the Art Board to get help with the signature. The frame needs some restoration. The auction values run between $1000 and $2300.

All that would be up my aisle. I love the light!!! Myself, I would hang onto the light. The curio, I would keep too. I would clean it up and use it as a nice display case.

Talking about lights. I know it may not be jaw dropping but I love this student desk lamp I found. It needs a good cleaning.

Thank you Armando. I will probably keep the curio. The painting will be sold after I restore the frame.

Love the Vase. I'm drawn to Delft when I see it. I would have grabbed that vase too.

I forgot who had the tiny violin. I love it.

Nuff, that box is beautiful. About the ketchup, it is much better than vinegar if you want to do specific small areas because it won't run all over the place. You have a lot more control with ketchup.

There is nothing wrong with that plug

Terry is right. Those plugs usually have a round thin cardboard insert in the end with slots to fit over the prongs. It is easy to make a new one.
