I picked up this stuffed elephant at auction today (photo below). This is the only photo I have at the moment until I pick it up. Fleischer Studios made Betty Boop and Popeye toys in the 1930s and Superman printed stuff around 1940. I can find no reference to them having anything to do with elephants. Can anyone tell me any more about this company or this elephant H1742-L222196434.jpg ?
Here is what the listing said:

Description: ca. 1920; based on comic strip elephant of Fleischan's Studio (creators of Betty Boop & Popeye), the ride-on toy with iron frame with "Fleischman Animals" having embossed wheels, gray chniel fabric body, long trunk and oversized glass eyes, 29 1/2"x 10 3/4"x 17"; Condition: iron loop extends from back over head, soiled fabric and some wear

I don't know if the mix-up is simply you making typing errors or not, but you have 3 different spellings going on between your thread title and the listing description:

    Fleischer Studios
    Fleischan's Studio
    Fleischman Animals

Perhaps you should wait until you pick the elephant up and see what the actual marking says.

Look, Fleischer is most likely name I come up with after looking up as much as I could on the internet. I repeated the listing VERBATIM because to try to edit it would probably cause confusion and questions in the minds of people googling this and trying to help. Whatever errors were made in the listing, I dont know, Im simply repeating what it said.

If anybody has any info on the company or that item in particular, I would love to hear about it. I am excited to pick up the antique and in the meantime I would love to find out any more info. that is why I am posting here.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

How can it be "ride on" if the 'iron loop extends from back over head' ???? Just a thought..... Also, 'Fleischman Animals' seems to be all about books and I saw no reference to elephants.....

Acquitaine: I think what it means is there is a metal bar coming out of the elephants back and it extends over the head. It looks like a hand hold for the toddler

There is something written on the wheels. Perhaps when you receive it, that will help.

Either that or the metal loop was there to keep his head up and it popped out. It seems strange that his head hangs so low his trunk drags on the ground.
