Opinions on resizing this 18k white gold cameo?

I have the opportunity to buy this 18k white gold men's cameo ring. They are offering it to me at $100 including a resize. It is a little too small on my ring finger and would have to size up just a tad. Is this ring even that old? Hard to tell honestly, sorry for bad pictures the lighting wasn't good. If this is a true antique and is worth it I may snatch it up. Thoughts??

I'd guess '50s at the oldest.

I am not confident that it is the original setting for the cameo. The corners look too squared for the piece. I have never seen a cameo in a white metal setting I don't think either.

Can you still find one of those little gold wire ring re-sizer things to make it smaller?

Does anyone know what those are called? Are they still available? Where?

You can find them on Ebay likely. There used to be a lot of them there.

    I don't think it's solid 18k gold.

@buyingtime777 do you know what those down-sizer wires are called?

FWIW, I think it's horribly overpriced. The gold content worries me and the carving isn't that good.

It is not an antique, and I agree with Holly on the stone. Obb is right, it is overpriced.

It appears Spart needs the ring larger - not smaller - so a ring sizer might not be the thing. I understand ring sizing can be expensive, so this might actually be a good deal, but I know nothing about the value of the ring itself. I'm far from a jewelry expert. :(

To echo what others have said, I think it is newer, agree with post 50's, and the carving is a bit simple, not so fine, and like others, curious why the setting seems a bit off from the cameo.

Is it a jeweler offering this? If you really like it, I would confirm the gold content first if you are thinking about a purchase. If confirmed 18K, $100 with a ring size adjustment (they are probably planning to "stretch" it) seems a fair enough retail price. One has to consider the melt down on an 18K ring, not that you are planning to melt, but wouldn't it be at least $60 or so? With a size adjustment (our jeweler charges $25 for ring stretching), you aren't so far off.

I'm not exactly thrilled with the fit either.....but is that a crack in the black onyx above the cameo's head? And behind the 'plume'....what's the white showing.... something seems a bit off.....just MHO.......

Some years ago my wife and I figured out that an inexpensive way to resize rings was to visit a local Gem and Jewelry show - they came through Seattle several times a year. One could drop off a ring at a jeweler's booth, visit the other booths for an hour or two, and come back to pick up the resized ring. Prices were very reasonable, around $10 or less as I recall to make it smaller, a little more if they had to add a bit of silver or gold to make it larger. Good quality work though, and speedy.
