Spode French Marigold - dating help

    Anyone know a way that I can accurately date this Spode candy dish with French Marigold Motif?

    From what I've read in the book Spode-Copeland-Spode, 1770-1970 by Wilkinson and also on the internet your mark looks to be from the late 1700's.

    Here's a similar one on sale with Andrew Dando a leading British porcelain expert. Pretty sure that yours will date to the same period.

    If selling the first one, be sure & call it a basket as per John Brassey's find.

    I think the impressed mark of the second one is “Spodes New Body.” I stress “think.”
