TIFFANY's introduced its first "Return to Tiffany" item -- a key ring -- in 1969. Of course, then it was used with a unique registration number so the keys, if lost, could actually be returned to their owner.

When the brand went mass, they started using it on other merchandise as just a design element.

Nah, already made up my mind to ditch them. To do an in-person appointment will take at least three months.

    Hi,
I used to go to Tiffanys and ask them to clean or polish pieces. If it was Tiffs they would gladly do it. If Fake they would decline to clean it.

That's a very good way to get anything authenticated. With any luxury brand. They won't provide service if not theirs.

That may be but it seems very unnecessary now.

I know diddley squat about silver but, in looking at the "real" ones @Debora posted from the Tiffany site & looking at OP, I notice OP is a solid letter Tiffany & Co, and the real ones are not a solid letter. Ditto on the key ring she posted. Different fonts, dunno if that matters....

The whole thing looks different to my untrained eye when you look closely

First of all, Tiffany will not authenticate. They will only take items in for repair, cleaning, etc. and will then tell you after if they can work on the item or not. They will not tell you on the spot. Next, 3 pages later lol... You can just get them authenticated for $7.50 from authenticate4u in Scotland. They are respected fashion authenticators but they definitely do Tiffany silver jewelry. I use them for all my secondary market Tiffany jewelry as I collect Peretti. Your cuff links look off to me and nothing is more faked than Tiffany silver jewelry but why not find out for sure?

You can just go to their website but I find that they respond more quickly if I contact them off their Facebook page. Payment is made through PayPal.

Obviously test them first. I may have missed if you did test them.

I use them all the time and they WILL take items in and then get back to you. They will not authenticate on the spot. I have never brought them a fake so I have no idea if they confiscate but when they take items in for repair or polishing they just take them in and then they call. I’ve had pieces worked on for dings many times.

It's an implied authentication. They will not accept an item for service if it's not their product. They have no authority to confiscate.

I would not count on that as an authentication and always feel that it best to get a definitive authentication on paper that can be included with a listing for items being sold.

If you’re selling them that’s not good enough.

There are plenty of Sterling Tiffany counterfeits out there. Silver is cheap. We’re all paying for that Tiffany stamp so there’s loads of profit for the counterfeiters even working in sterling.

When I look at the lettering on the authentic the Tiffany & Co. I see two different lines making up the letters and look at the unique crossing of the "T".

I am a guitar player and know a bit about guitars and have a nice group of older instruments as I prefer the tone of the classics. I have seen China exporting fake poor quality Martin and Gibson guitars for several years now and can see the minute details quickly on these.

Don't throw those cufflinks away! We should organize a Knock off party once Covid is over and wear our giucci, burrberrie and all arrive late because our Rollexes do not keep proper time.
