Do any here use an electronic gold tester?

I have an electronic gold tester, a RS Mizar ET18. It has five readings: Non-gold, flash gold, >10K >14K and >18K. Flash gold is the supposedly thinest gold plate.

I am wondering if anyone has experience with a machine like this.

Are the readings accurate? If yours has a type of "flash gold" setting, has it ever given an inaccurate reading?

I have another type - Tri Electronics GT 3000

It uses a single gel chemical

The gel is somewhat costly, doesn't last, and destroys its dispenser.

I never tried it on plate.

The liquid mine comes with is costly and also destroys the bottle it comes in over time.
