looks like the stuff my mom bought in the 70's - she called it Capodimonte and I think that's what it was known as.

They are figurines created by Neapolitan companies that copied Capodimonte.
By now, the Capodimonte brand is completely affected by numerous imitations and exploitation of image, because there is no strong legal control, and many manufacturers in southern Italy above all take advantage of this weakness.
Beware of "Capodimonte", unless they are 18th century brands of course :)
On ebay you can find everything, if you are looking for Capodimonte, you will discover a universe of sellers from Italy, individuals and "professionals"

I have several similar to yours lined up on shelves at my lock-up.

    All from the 70's
    Some have COA's attached.

No takers not even for £5

so basically, nobody knows if it is real or not. it is signed, and has the royal mark. how is it fake?

"Real" Capodimonte was last made over 200 years ago. What is being made now (and for the past 50 years at least) has nothing to do with the famous maker of that name.

And yes, the stamp marked in red by Sabre is the same as yours (if you turn the picture of yours the right way around.)

actually it doesnt look the same. mine says "made italy." not "made in italy." the signature isnt close to the same as the one you marked. you are just guessing. what expertise do you have on this item? besides google...which i have as well.

If you're asking if it's original Capodimonte from the 18th century, it's not.

It's a 20th century figurine using the Capodimonte marks. I agree with the above posters that it's most likely from the 1970s.

"Take some time to carefully examine examples of several different marks used by the original factory, along with others from the numerous companies that rekindled the Capodimonte tradition in the 20th century."

That little snippet was taken from link below. It has a pretty straight forward explanation for the marks on new pieces. Clear as mud, right?

aggression? i am just calling out people who feel they are experts and offer opinions as such. the persons comment was outrageously wrong. i am in my rights to tell her she is wrong. like you said, this is a forum. if she or you dont like how i respond to your opinions on items...you can find the door

I am afraid, with these figures, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as Davey's pricing shows.

Not nice, Josiah. Bakers and the other members are trying to help you. Her experience on these boards is invaluable and to say that she is just guessing is ridiculous.

she posted a picture from google. i can do that...and i have. how is that invaluable? she offered an opinion. she is not an expert. and she is clearly wrong. if your and her ego is so massive that you cant handle some criticism..then perhaps the problem is with you and her
