Featured Chippendale inspired ball and claw ottoman stool w Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Registry No 442 tag

Hello everyone! I'm about to reupholster this ottoman stool and wanted to see if anyone could help me date it? Dark wood, ball and claw feet, and a tag on the "seat" board that says "Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry Harrisburg Registry No. 442". Thank you...

 

These are thoughts only.
The dark red mahogany stain was 1900-1920ish. The nice feet indicate a better maker.
I don't know what to make of the cloth label. Usually they are paper. Also not sure when they had to register furniture designs in PA.

Late 1800s piano seats were chairs that adjusted like a screw would turn. So I think the piano bench is later.
I am going to guess early 1900s - 20s.

According to the internet, the use of that label was instituted in 1937. So can't be earlier.

Likely pre-war, as this would have seemed pretty old fashioned post-war.

 

Ca. 1940 and a quality maker. Love the legs and feet!

Yeah, out of my interest area but, 20th century for sure.

 

I don't think it matters much, whether 20s or 40s or somewhere in between. It does seem to be a higher quality piece judging by the feet.

No, it doesn't matter. A classic piece from a middle class family with good, traditional taste.
