MY GHOSTBUSTER'S BARREL 1984

So I promised photo's on my barrel with Ghostbusters on it. Here's it is
1984 Columbia Pictures inc.
1988 Columbia Pictures TV, a Division of CPT Holdings, inc.

I've never seen something like this what are your thoughts?

I don't know what is normally sold in these novelty tins in the UK, but on this side of the pond they are most often sold filled with popcorn (already popped of course.)

How big is it? Do you have the lid?

 

I think 205 LITRE/45 GALLON and I do have the lid but its been bent over the years but a easy Fix

 

My first reaction was it is a 30 gallon drum like automotive grease comes in.

 

Can you post a picture of the lid?

45 gallons is a lot bigger than I thought. How about how tall and how wide instead of volume.

 

Do you suppose it held slime?

As we all know (if we've had kids or grandchildren between the late 1900's to the present,) every movie or TV show aimed at children is "licensed" to all sorts of makers of things that would appeal to children in the target age range - toys and games, clothing, food, and even, dare I say it, bedding.

 

Thanks for the info! Yeah that's true I sold some bedding with E.T as you can see from the pillow in my Picture

 

It's kind of odd to think of sheets and pillowcases being packaged inside something like this barrel, but it's not the craziest thing I've ever seen. The kids want the barrel and the parents want the bedding. It's a win-win.

Totally possible. A quick Google image search for Real Ghostbusters fabric brought up comforters, bed sheet fabric, pillow covers, and on and on. In the US the bedding was licensed to Stevens, but I think it quite likely (given Primeur's about us page info) that the UK license was theirs.

 

Very interesting, C. I would not have thought it was for seating use!
