This is my only black light poster. I bought it back in 1970 at a head shop (remember head shops?). I was in there most every weekend. They had a section at the back appropriately lit for black light posters… rock stars, nudity, family cartoon characters doing rude things. Vasarely was popular, as was Escher. I was enthralled. This, however, was the only poster I ever bought there. The Friendship Frigate. 40” high (very high).

    I recall that one. :)
Doesn't Spencer's Gifts still have such things?

I remember a black light Phi Zappa Crappa poster in Truc in Harvard Square. That would go well with the "Fox" painting.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

The pin says "Troika" as title, so doesn't say which fairy tale... it was made in Mstera, one of the main towns in Russia producing painted lacquerware.

Thank you so much - you just saved me a lot of time trying to type those characters into a russian keyboard on google translate :) I've always found this kind of thing very pretty.

You're welcome! I like this kind of thing, too. I have a few of the pins and a few boxes.

Head shops were mostly gone by the time I was old enough to go inside of head shops. Then again pot never appealed to me much, so the accessories never did either with the possible exception of patchouli. And Rat Fink, if Rat Fink ever landed in head shops; the last I looked he was more associated with bikers.

Rat Fink started with Hot Rods. The late Ed Roth drew him as he was a hot rod guy and built such cars as the Mysterion.
I met him a few times and have his autograph.
I agree as you probably do see RF more around bikes now.
You will see him more on 'Rat' Rods than other cars as well.

Cool finds! It is always neat-o when artwork is posted. I was looking for new things (well, old, new things) to add to the inventory but couldn't find any goodies when out today.

Picked a new area. Hit 3 out of 6 stores on my list for today (will visit the other stores a different day) and then came home to the new puppies. I will start a new thread a different day about the sweet girls.

Didn't spend very much today and got a good amount. Things not shown include good Fitz & Floyd plates, a Fondeville sugar with lid, Wedgwood and Nippon. I also purchased a set of perfect four tumblers made by Kilkenney Crystal which I am not familar with.

It was fun and exciting to find a vintage Fire-King mug with advertising (finally!), one not currently online or that I find has been sold. I don't find any past images either. I am not showing it as I want to see what happens, as we know if they are a 'hit' they are indeed. If not, that is OK. ;) At least I know it happens.

These are my two other favorite finds I thought folks might enjoy.

In perfect condition, I found five of these plates total (different scenes). Made for one year only by W.S. George, each plate featured French cartoon work by Fred Pearson and Richard Taylor. They are very rare to find in any condition.

I do not know the pattern and will start a post at some point. I originally thought 'possibly' Westmoreland, but the blue overlay makes me question it. There are two tumblers in good condition and a large beverage/water pitcher, which shows noticeable silver wear, mostly on one side. If I can ID the pattern, someone may need the pitcher still. $5.00 for all.

Next picking adventure for me in two weeks. Time to list and start some threads meanwhile. Happy almost picking weekend adventure time for everyone!

Unless your name is Marian or Eugene then the inscription brings the value down a bit. Still a good purchase on your part.
