One of the first pieces I ever bought for myself - never really researched it until tonight. I've found the signature looks very much like that of Harald Folmer Gross - mid century Danish ceramic designer / decorator. Although the signature is similar, this piece is very simple and unglazed / undecorated and doesn't look like a production piece. Thoughts on if this is his signature? It's about 10" in diameter and roughly spherical.

    Thanks again!

Here's some examples of his signature:

    Hi,
I only say that since the G and the R are large and the oss is in small letters.

I see that the GRoSS looks similar but on most of the pieces he has additional initials and marks. The style is also very different so I'm thinking it may be a different Gross or as Greg suggested maybe G Ross?

Isn't this a piece of Raku?

Yep - I agree that's how it is written - it's also how Harald Gross I referenced above signed. But yes, could definitely be a G Ross.

Definitely a different style than the stuff that Harald Gross made for Knabstrup. Could definitely be a different Gross or G Ross - yes - I was just struck by how similar the signature is to some of his signatures on the Knabstrup pieces. If this was by Harald - I suspect it wasn't for Knabstrup.

Raku is a new term for me - I'm just reading up on it now. Thank you!

This is raku, now I don't have any with this signature but I do collect raku and can spot it a mile away.

I did not - I'd advise starting up a new thread in this Forum for your piece :)
