We "inherited" this furniture when moving into our home. Ready to sale but have no idea the style, maker, type of wood or pricing.

Thanks so much for any help you can provide.

komokwa The Truth is out there...!

The chairs are a bit much for me but the table & breakfront look nice...& cared for.
    I'd say 70's....( 5 / 16 / 78 ) could be a MFG dating........but I'll defer to the furniture folks on this site.
That said we don't value items here...BUT...members like to give out ballpark figures on occasion.....but first....
    Where are you ?
Are you selling on CL...yardsale...the Net...???
    As a set....or not.?

Brown furniture...is not hot right now....but different locations.....demand different expectations......
Some folks in Huston could be looking for furniture now......!!
( no offense to Texas...it is what it is !! )

    Oh....& Welcome !

I was thinking 70s too, from the styling and finish. It's nice and sturdy, but doesn't sell for a lot here in New England. Values can vary widely depending on location. Things my local ReStore can't give away can't be kept in stock in Southern California.

Thanks for the response!! Funny you should mention. We are in the Houston area. 30 minutes north east of Houston. I'd been thinking of selling it but never got around to it. I have some family members that lost EVERYTHING. This furniture is too big for their home but thought proceeds from selling it could help.

I would be posting to CL, and the Net. I would LOVE to sell as a whole set.

It is very sturdy! Almost too sturdy...know what I mean?!? :cat: It's been well taken care of. We think it's been in the house since the initial purchase. Looking at old pictures we've found. Thanks for your response.

Another possiblility would be donating it to Habitat for Humanity. They have stores where they resell furniture and the like to fund building or rebuilding homes for people with lower incomes. If their store in your area got trashed, they'll need goods too.

Yes, please donate it to people that lost everything, having been through it myself once(when a fireworks factory exploded near my house destroying the whole neighbourhood, back in 2000), I appreciated everything I got from charity, no matter how ugly.

Think the mfg. date is 1978 based on style and numbers shown. It is just used furniture at this point so value is in the utility. Here in the Midwest, it would bring very little at auction and I doubt you would have takers on CL here unless dirt cheap. It is the kind of things dealers here are buying for pennies and painting for re-sale. If I had to put a number on it, under $300.00 for the set might get some interest. The emphasis is on might.
