What culture is the image from?

 

Hindu? - India or thereabouts. The clothing (what there is of it) and the multi-armed god or goddess are what give me that thought.

 

The monkey god figures are something I associate with India, or at least the Hindu religion. Could this be Tamil?

That seems to be monkey gods, but doesn't look like the traditional Hindu depiction of Hanuman, so I'd bet it's from elsewhere in the region.

 

Sri Lanka maybe? I found an image of a Tamil culture statue with similar features.

 

Thanks for all the replies. I think it's possibly a temple rubbing so maybe I should search in that direction.

 

I kept finding similar things all over Thailand, wall murals and carved friezes, but can't find any with the same headdress as the guy in the chariot. Something about a Monkey King and a Monkey Army.

 

I'm thinking more of Cambodia but still can't find a match.

It is a scene from the Ramayana. The monkey army led by noble Hanuman helps king Rama to get his wife Sita back from the clutches of the evil Demon king Ravanna of Lanka (Sri Lanka).
Ravanna is on the right, getting kicked off his chariot by a monkey officer.
