Playle's Postcards has lots of info

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I don't think so because at that time Germany was still a divided country and the "Printed in Germany" would have designated East or West before the country name.

I don't ever remember a specific postcard postage rate being printed permanently on the card.

I didn't say it was to be sent from Germany. :)

And Fig didn't either. The point is that in the timeframe of 1981-1985 (when you said the US postage rate was 13 cents) anything printed in Germany would have designated whether it was printed in what we call East Germany or West Germany (or their official names) but NOT just "Germany."

Thanks for showing that CX. It certainly is worded more clearly than just a number in the corner of the stamp box, though. ;)

Thanks bakers! Just trying to show the 13 isn't a stamp rate, probably just a series number as Kronos said.:)

I think it's a sweet, old card, but probably not worth much more than the $1 you paid for it. Fun to have, though ...

Playle's Postcards is another good research site.

There's a FB group called RPPC (Real Photo Post Cards). They wouldn't be much help for this, but if you do run across the RPPCs, they are very helpful.

I'm guessing there are FB groups for other types of postcards, too!

And, BTW, you mentioned Playle's back in August when the thread was first posted.
