Thanks! Yeah it's the type of art that blends in to a thrift shop. I'm planning to send it to auction. There is a gallery in Dallas Texas that has a great track record of auction sales, I think they have sold atleast 15 of his paintings in the past.

I know the sick feeling, I passed on a small collection of early pottery cow creamers. Later found out they were worth around £5-800 each. The charity shop had them priced at £3.50 each and I in my ignorance thought they were poorly made. Duh

    oh well...
15 years ago..an ex-best friend got hold of a Daphne Odjig original Jerusalem series painting for a pittance .
    I wanted...lusted after it !!
He wanted 5 large for it , but decided he was going to give it to his folks .
    OK...can't fight that....
Months later , he admits to trading it to a collector for some African art.

    I never forgot that.
It's one of those things you hang on to for your retirement !

I grew up in Derry and my cousin and sister-in-law lived in Dunbarton and Goffstown respectively. They graduated the same year from Goffstown High. I was just up there a couple of weeks ago. What used to be Peg's Tavern in Dunbarton, now the Teapot Tavern, is for sale. If only I could afford it. I lived with my aunt and uncle for awhile and spent a lot of time there.

Here's a good photo of it, I knew I was going to have to take off the old mat board as it was chewed up pretty good. That gave me a chance to thoroughly clean the frame without worrying about damaging the art. Now I just have to wait to hear back from the Texas auction house.

One final update (for now). After some extensive research, I determined that the auction house in Texas was the best way to go. They have sold 15 of Lloyd Goff's artworks before and they seem to have a very nice record of sales. Today I packed up the painting (a little nerve racking) and I'll be sending it off this week for consignment. I'm excited because I have never sent something to auction so it will be a learning experience for me (hopefully a profitable experience for me too). I'm going to have to WAIT though, because the auction will not go until January. Fingers crossed that 1. the painting arrives safely, 2. that the painting sells, and 3. that I don't lose my mind waiting to find out!

They valued the painting between $1000-$2000 at auction!

Way to go, MrNate! Here's hoping it not only SELLS, but also beats the estimate! (There will be a reserve on it, right?)
