Any chance of cancelling your order on the other site?

Oh, probably. It's through a bookseller in abebooks. But I was thinking that I'd rather have the "original" 1988 facsimile. And the one in eBay is an auction, but I see the person has relisted it four times in the past month so there may not be any takers and it could probably be gotten inexpensively. Maybe I'll get both!

I just bid on the eBay one.

    To all,
Is the size of the box wrong for a cigar box? (Am too tired and lazy to Google sizes of cigar boxes, LOL!)
Could this box have been made to hold a copy of the book, maybe...?
It's so beautiful and well made. Just wondering.

Interestingly, I got a notice that my bid has been canceled on the eBay one. Too bad... Tomorrow I'll log in online to find out why. I don't really care much.

After I saw your question I checked the book dimensions and it seems the interior dimensions of the box are a tad small to hold a copy of the book I'm afraid - but a very good question.

Huh. I wonder why? I haven't been on eBay for so long, I'm sure I wouldn't recognize it, nor would eBay recognize me, I bet!

When I logged in this morning it said the auction had been removed because the item was either lost or damaged. Of course, it's hard to know. I'm glad that I ordered the other one anyway!

EBay itself has a few changes but is still recognizable, usually. (Depending on how long since you've been there.) The eBay boards, though, are something else. Not all that great --

I received it today... I like it, but very different from what I expected. Instead of being bound like a book it is an accordion-like foldout with six pages. One side of each folded page is the facsimile of the original Russian, and the other side has an English translation of the Pushkin poem. And the whole thing is wrapped in a wrapper. Very nice! I think if I had gotten the other one (from 1991) it would have been more like a book in a cover. Or so I gather. Anyway, thank you, @aaroncab for starting this discussion!
