Asian ginger / biscuit jar – date and manufacturer identification

    Hello

    I picked this up because I just like the way it looked and planned to work it in with some other Asian pieces.

    I found one image online, but frustratingly the link takes you to EBay but does not display the item in the image link.

    I can find no other image except this one.

    I don’t expect it is ancient by any means, but it is crude and shows crazing.

    There seems to be a number of different names for these pieces and descriptions, ginger, biscuit, etc.

    In the absence of a maker’s mark I was hoping someone could tell me what it is, Kutani, Matsumoto, etc. and what it may have been used for. It stands approx. 6” high and 5” across at its widest point.

    Cookie jar, biscuit barrel, take your pick. Early 20th c item of middling quality-- cute and useful, though!
