something i bought recently that im 99.9% sure is a reproduction

when i bought it i was sure it was ok

but there are too many similar repros out there that i wasnt aware of

all the repros also have missing eyes, and a slight base metal show through on the cheeks

luckily the repros are selling for more than i paid so its not a total flop

but there are lots of sellers selling them as antiques, perhaps they are unaware as well

would be interested if seeing the pics, anyone else would be fooled as well

or are there glaring tell tale signs

(since taking pics ive noticed no wear internally, so thats a red flag as well)

    any thoughts appreciated

I may have been fooled if it were super cheap. I have a huge stick collection and I’m always astonished by how many repros and fakes there are of any figural topper. I always look close at listings and sold listings before even thinking about a figural topper. So much stuff being sold as old or antique in that sector. I got a cool old wooden carved bulldog stick for $5 at a sale last year. No clue why they sold it to me for that.

yeah thinking about it if it was legit the shop would have priced it accordingly, i guess youd be talking into the hundreds for a proper antique one

problem being know though that the replicas are muddying the waters for the original pieces

As I had it in my watch list (or warning list)

The seller just sent me an offer

I'm thinking about sending him back a fact :)
