    Hello.

I am new to this antique forum and so excited that I found it. I bought this vase today for 5 dollars at a thrift store. I have always loved crystal and identified it right away as such but it has no markings. I am also a little unsure on how to tell if it is of high quality. I just wanted to know if anyone maybe recognizes the pattern or maybe the approximate age of it. For the price I bought it for and how lovely it is, I am happy even if it is just a recent, cheap bohemian crystal vase. I have searched online for a few hours and found nothing. The flower design is on the front and back and the criss cross pattern is either side. I have pictures that I will add to this. Thanks in advance for any insight in advance. I know the feeling. To me, it doesn't have to be from a famous and revered source. Finding something that delights me and the research to discover things about it is what I most enjoy.

The flower design looks like it might be a pineapple... Waterford has a pineapple pattern that your lovely vase might be referencing.

Yes that is how I feel about it. And the researching really is fun and you learn so much along the way.

Oh it does. I hadn't noticed that. I did think the diagonal cuts in the flowers were unusual and that may be why.

mitten, I've just gone back and looked more carefully at the centred motif and I was wrong and you were right--my apologies. It IS a flower--I missed seeing the stem earlier. So now I'm thinking it's a peony... (and I won't blame you for thinking I'm just randomly working my way through things that start with "p"!).

I thought it might have been inspired by a pineapple as I thought it was a rose but after seeing a peony on google (my flower knowledge is lacking) it does look a lot more like one of those. I appreciate any insight into this vase as I honestly haven't been able to find a thing about it online.

Hi, I have a vase with the exact same markings. Did you ever find out what it was? Thanks

    Welcome to the Forum, Ashton!

By markings do you mean the same design or is yours Marked with a maker?

Hi, I believe this is Vega cut by American Cut Crystal of Hungary. The pattern varies a little from glass to vase. If not it will give you a good starting point. Have a look at replacements.com The flower is a rose design which also varies, it will sometimes be a complicated cut in the center with a star and other times be a simple cut with a clear center. Yours appears to be a complex cut with a an above the rose. Good luck
