  3. I contacted Chicago, London, Zürich and Edinborough most renomated specialists. Everybody told me to actually "throw it away". So, I thoght why don't clean this? And the golden shimmer came out.

What is the color it leaves behind on ceramic?

A question for those knowledgeable on this topic: Is it patina or just grime if it washes off in a dishwasher. Would a chemically changed surface (where the metal has reacted with oxygen/sulfur/etc) just wash off from the water spray?

Note: I'm not supporting the use of a dishwasher on antique or vintage items.

Most dishwasher "soaps" contains sodium bisulfite which is used in jewelers pickle to remove oxidation after soldering, etc. It will remove patina from copper, silver, etc.

  8. Sorry guys, we're not talking about dishwashers here! My question was: does it look like gold?

It looks like bronze or brass with the patina stripped off. Gold would never have had the patina that this item had.

    I agree, cast brass.
If no one cares, and she has now become a household object to be put in the dishwasher, I will have her.
