    Hi,
I need some help describing the pattern on this rose bowl, not sure if there is a term for this design. The bowl is dated 1909. Is this considered repousse?
    any ideas appreciated.

I call those acanthus leaves on the bowl part. If the 3-dimensional parts (on the outside) are indented on the inside, then yes I think you could call it repousse. (not "repose") The technical definition is that the design is worked from the inside and then chased on the outside to make the design crisp. It's hard to see in the picture (lighting) whether that's the case.

    Very cute. Who made it?

Thanks bakers! Dumb auto correct, I know it is repousse - lol, just tried to correct it again:) Yes, the design is done from the inside.

'Repousse' is the name given to the METHOD for creating the design or pattern. Exactly what you wanna name the design itself is up to you.

Thanks Shangas! I guess I wasn't very clear in my post, I didn't mean repousse for the pattern name but rather how the design was made:)
