Trying to identify artist and time period!

    This painting has been in the family for years and we are trying to figure out who the artist is, and from what time period this might be. It appears to be pencil sketched with a monochromatic, sepia toned watercolor. It is signed Chas M. Crocker.

    There was an American artist, Charles M. Crocker (1877 - 1950). He signed his name in various ways, including Chas M Crocker.

    I would not use the term "monochromatic" for the piece you're inquiring about.

    That cardboard backing has probably has already yellowed the paper, and will continue to inflict damage since it is very acidic.

    @sabre123 that's a great painting!

    The OP's watercolour looks earlier and like many watercolours that have been exposed to years of sunlight, quite faded.
    Unfortunately, watercolours have to be bright to retain their value.
