Acquired this for an old desk in the basement more for coordination and functional purpose.Any thoughts on age, style, wood, origin, etc.?

Agree that it's vintage rather than antique, but lots of nice craftsmanship.

We used to use similar (not quite as elaborate) chairs out on the lawn for tea, etc. They "sat" a bit more firmly and didn't sink into the turf the way a four legged chair would.

Whoever made it did a nice job. I'd have jumped on it too, or sat on it as the case may be.

Just checked prices on some of these......I feel pretty good about $40.

If someone offered me $75, I would have jumped at it and found another chair!

I don't want to think about the hours that went into carving it. They sell for a lot less than they're worth.
