What Artist is this made by and what era is it from?

This is a small, demitasse cup with a saucer. It has a cobalt blue and gold rim and a beautiful Renaissance painting of three women and a cherub. The only marking on either the cup or saucer is a small silver 2 on the base of the saucer.

We are trying to figure who the maker of this is, and what time period it was made.

 

To the extent I can see the design inside, looks like Cupid & the Graces. They are sometimes shown binding him, clipping his wings, or taking his bow while he sleeps.

 

The pedestal foot says possibly 1950s Japan.
This is only a guess.

 

Should add the picture is a decal and not hand painted.
Take a magnifying glass and look closely at the ladies, you will see dots, not brush strokes

 

It's signed Angelica Kauffman(actually not signed - attributed to)
She was a famous painter from the 1700s I believe.
A lot of her paintings have been used as decals on cups and saucers, miniatures, all kinds of items.
Very popular I would say in the 1940s-60s
