Featured Folding wicker screen, reminds me of a back drop to 1900's photos, bu no earlier than 1960's, right?

Got this today at a sale. Did not pay much ($30) and at first thought it might be older than vintage. It is about 6ft tall. A bit of the wicker unraveling here and there and some of those flower pieces are missing, but still has kind of a cool look.

Now thinking that it was painted sort of in an older style w/the black and is around 1960s or 1970s. The colors are more muted than what came out in the photos.

Did some research and none painted like this, but a few on Etsy (one seemed to sell for several hundred) but then another unsold at $150.

Welcoming general comments. I'm thinking of listing on CL maybe for $85 or so, but also thought about taking it apart and putting it on the outside of my house in a covered section. (Probably will never do that, just got thinking about it. I kind of like it, don't have any spot inside.)

Ack, how do you edit the title? Had a typo. That function seems to be missing now under "more options".

With the edit button on your first post, I think. However it may be too late at this point.

The 1960s, 70s wicker was sold unpainted. I painted mine white. Whoever did this was more creative.

$85 might be high with all he damage. But you could certainly give it a try. I really don't know what wicker sells for.

Not wicker but cane wrapped rattan. This is a later import piece. 70s or so is probably about right. I think the damage pretty much kills this for good value. It is repairable but most will not want to bother.

It has an in-person charm. Hard to describe. Probably due to the skill of the painter. Almost Deco-like colors (my camera made it look way too candy/little girl like), it is more muted in regular light.

When browsing around, unbelievably found a 60s/70s one sold on Etsy for $575 (!) in a slightly different pattern, no damage though. Others exactly like this but unpainted (and unsold) ranged from $150-$395, some of those had similar damage, but again, unsold. The marketing seems to be "Bohemian". I'm not suggesting this is worth either amount, but these do seem to be current in some kind of fashion trend.

It would make a great back drop in a store or something, occurs to me someone could just remove the rattan in the missing spots and paint that open cane black. Actually when looking at it as a whole piece you do not notice the missing curly Q pieces, just so much going on, but do see where the rattan has unraveled.

We'll see if anyone is looking for "Bohemian" here. In general this is a look that is locally popular so might luck-out.

As for the typo -- I am used to being able to edit the title in the edit function under "edit" and then "more options". Did so last week I think. But now under "more options" that choice seems to have disappeared. Maybe something in my browser. Who knows.

    Thanks, all! :)

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

That rattan damage doesn't look too bad....why not try tightening it up and adding some, then matching up the paint???? Looks like it would be easy enough!!!! I LOVE it, but of course would have NO place to put it!!!!!

The kind of thing Janis Joplin would have draped a boa on.

I love it!!!! I am new here and still trying to get around. It does look like it could be repaired and refurbished. Vivi
