Featured Mickey Mouse / Donald Duck rug

    Do we have any Disneyana experts out there? I have an old rug, made by Barrymore Rugs of Toronto, and I’d love to know when it dates to. My best guess, based on Donald’s long, thin beak and long neck, would be mid-1930’s, but I’d appreciate another opinion. Thanks!

    I suspect the © WD might be helpful for dating but don't know specifics of usage. It does appears here on this vintage Mickey Mouse handkerchief.

    According to a couple Disney collector sites. The WD would be from 1920s In the 30s was Walt Disney Enterprises, WDE.

    Barrymore have been in business here in Toronto since 1919 and finally closed their doors this year.

    Donald first appeared in 1934. So you were correct on your 30s guess.

    Thanks. He just looks like the original Donald to me, before Disney changed his beak and enlarged his eyes in 1936.
