Tea Caddy, genuine or repro. ?

Unsure about this as the key hole escutcheon has no lock behind it and has never had one, it looks ivory but could be bone.
    Both compartments are paper lined.

The veneer appears to resemble tortoiseshell and is cracked all over.

I'm almost giddy about today's find.

I went to a last day dig-out sale today and in the driveway was a grouping of floor lamps. Two caught my eye, but as I was looking, I heard the attendant telling a couple they could have "the dresser and all the floor lamps for $20." I was standing there like man made of stone waiting for their reply. "We'll just take the dresser."

After he finished up with them, I asked about the lamps and he said all for $20. I said I'd give $10 for the pair that I liked and he agreed. Both are Torchiere lamps but not matching. One is a Rembrandt and that was the one I really wanted.

Well, I walked to the other side of the table and my eyes almost popped out of my head. I saw a pair of absolutely gorgeous opalescent/pearl glass torchiere shades in a big box with a bath towel over them. The necks fit the taper perfectly in the fitters on mine. I asked, and he said $10 for the pair. I couldn't get the money out of my wallet quick enough.

No cracks, but have a couple small chips at the fitter end, thankfully. ( I can't believe they survived in tact )

They're large at 16" and have a lovely swirl and dots pattern.

    Oh happy days!

I haven't cleaned them yet, so pardon the dirt:

Another Victorian pine chest, that's 3 in 3 weeks.
This one needs stripping and a key before I sell.

Nice ones yes. Old junk however will always be old junk. Heaven only knows what was under the paint. Something better than the paint, doubtless.
