Saved this one from a lady who wanted to paint it white(hate it when they do that) 2014-07-02 20.17.39.jpg 2014-07-02 20.19.16.jpg 2014-07-02 20.21.21.jpg 2014-07-02 20.22.24.jpg 2014-07-02 20.22.35.jpg 2014-07-02 20.23.24.jpg . Looks somewhat english to me. One does not see this style too often in dutch thrift stores... could be 50ties, 30s or older?

50's maybe, the dovetails are machine done and I can't tell for sure but the hardware appears to be fastened with a phillips which would indicate forties or later. :)

Yes, very well done. Thanks for not letting her paint it white!

Can't save them all unfortunately, got some more white paint refugees in my tiny appartment. That lady was the owner of the thrift store who previously was much against the paint everything white trend but "if you can't beat them join 'em " became her only option, when the money stopped coming in.

I remember the horrifying days where many thought it was cool to do the antiquing look with paint and gold highlighting. You can restore walnut and cherry pretty well, but oak and mahogany are a different story. If the wood isn't too beat up to save, don't paint it.

I'm even more sure it's Stag.

I googled that, but I only seem to find their sixties design stuff, way too modern. My drawer/bachelor chest is really trying a lot harder to look old. ;)

Have a look at Stag Minstrel, for example, you'll see what I mean. My late mama had an almost identical chest of drawers to yours, same handles and it was Stag.

I really don't see the resemblance, I am sorry, they all have the wrong feet and the wrong handles, at least the images that come up when I google that. Mine has these: (do not mind the cat hairs) 2014-07-02 20.25.51.jpg

Hers wasn't Minstrel, but I can't recall the range name off hand.

Should have looked at the back first, there's a mark there. And I do not think it's Stag's... 2017-08-27 23.22.41.jpg Anyone recognize this mark? :

Rolls Royce? It's hard to tell because that cat hair is so distracting.

Did not know they made FURniture as well... And it did not even come from the belgian uncle who was a rolls royce collector, he would have loved this chest...;)

It does seem like an intertwined RR.

Looks more like PR than RR. I can't think of a maker, off hand. Might possibly be a retailer though.

Well I wasn't serious, but it DOES kind of look like an RR. :)
