I have found a version of the same image, described as an "engraving by W. Lowry, 1815, after J. D. Herbert." It includes different credits along the bottom edge of the engraving.

Another image of textile machinery appears to come from the same source, and is described as a "Copperplate engraving by Wilson Lowry after an Illustration by J. Herbert from Abraham Rees' "Cyclopedia or Universal Dictionary," London, 1817.

Abraham Rees' "Cyclopedia or Universal Dictionary" was published in London in serial form between 1802 and 1820. Such general encyclopedias were popular during the 19th century, and often used and reused the same illustrations.

 

Thank you 2manybooks. That was great information. Would anybody know if the C. Gorbecht mentioned by Debora above was the same as the engraver for the US mint?

Yes, same. He was also an inventor. But I couldn't find any link to him and woolens.

On your print, it is "C. Gobrecht Sculp.", which means he was the engraver.
