Hope this isn't breaking any rools, if so, jes' schlap me, I'm used to it. If you know of anyone who may be interested, pass it along.

Scroll about half way down the page, past all those ugly machineguns, and you'll find a few of the many cannons- I think there will be about 75 in the sale.

The company's collection is indeed going up, theirs not mine, always has been but they let me play with it whenever I wanted to. They want to build a new HQ and stop paying hundreds of $K per year leasing three buildings. Let all your friends know, it is all great stuff, no repro nor junk, I guarantee it. There's so much of it, it'll probably go for about double scrap price, but all that remains to be seen. This will be the largest cannon auction the antiques world has ever seen, I'm pretty certain of that. I can't wait 'till it all gets cataloged, Julia's is famous for their catalog photography.

I've got a story about that. A person with a large collection of fine, rare Colt revolvers offered one very special one to a billionaire collector who is "still around" so I won't mention his name. Asking price was $350K and Mr. Billionaire examined it in person and turned it down. Julia's purchased the collection, cataloged it, and Mr. B bought it for $440K. in the auction. Same gun. Why? The photos and writeup showed and described it better than "real life" and convinced Mr B he had to have it.

:joyful: That's not that surprising about the gun.

So are you buying anything for your personal collection?

Very good photos, Spring. And may I add it's nice to "see" you again!

Must be nice not to have to worry about paying $90,000 MORE for something, LOL!

I still collect really nice brass trench art shells. I particularly like small 37mm cartridge cases that have intricate, acid-etched designs, have only ever found 5 of them. These cartridge cases are about 1.5 in. diameter and 4 or 4.5 in. tall. Have lots and lots of the larger ones, like 75mm, which measure about 3" x 15" or so, but would like to find more acid-etched ones of any size, really. The designs are just so much more "crisp" than those where people have beaten or even engraved the designs into the brass.
