    Hi all,
Any help deciphering the artist's name on this 1928 woodcut would be very much appreciated. _MG_1276.jpg _MG_1272.jpg

Don't know, but I'll throw in a guess: Henry Traunheimer -- The first letters in first and last name at first look the same, but if you enlarge the sig you will see differences.

The first letter in the last name is the biggest stumbling block (for me). Could be a lot of things!

Yes but it's an 'artist' and so they must endeavor to be as illegible as possible. ;)

Reminds me some of my Dad's signature which he designed to be almost impossible to copy. ;)

Thank you all for your suggestions; off I go to try them all. I like it as well, and I have a whole series of them, about eight. Not one of the signatures is legible.
The technique is interesting as well - it's a woodcut, but the ink has a texture and feels "burned".

Pyrography was very popular in the early 1900s then again in the 50s and 60s and seems so again.
It's never not been done I don't think it's just had spurts of extra interest.
Seems I just saw a Rifleman in which Mark was doing some and that's not long after the Civil War.
