Is this 1 Lapis?





Do we know the proper name for this style? it says made in czechoslov on the clasp. I just call them rainbow crystals lol




An finally these pretty glass beads, are they collectable or have a particular name?

Blue beads are very recent. The set is that striped rhinestone which has a name I HAVE FORGOTTEN! Arg. It's 1950s/60s anyhow.

 

i should mention the blue beads are strung together with fine steel wire

 

I meant the ones with the lobster claw are newish. I've got those green ones, aventurine glass, probably Italian, 1960s. Pale blue stripy ones, same age, may also be Italian.

Thank you! When you say aventurine glass, does that only apply to the green necklace or does the blue swirly one come under that name too?

 

I think it’s called Iris (rainbow) glass..

 

The green is the aventurine, it's those gold glittery bits.

If it's plastic coated wire, a standard material for craft bead stringing without knots & for beads that are likely to saw through silk. The beads look to me like sodalite rather than lapis lazuli.

also the clasp is 925.

 

Seconded on the sodalite - heishi style beads. When you see tigertail it's generally either a craft show piece/crafter piece or a restring of some kind. Not always though; as stated, stone beads like to eat regular string. The green ones are Venetian sommerso. The striped ones are iris glass and the shrimp shape are probably some sort of Italian or Czech lampwork.

Yep. Just sold a blue set on Eboo. I snag those beads whenever I see them going begging.

Iris/rainbow glass is one of my favorite types of glass and favorite finds.

 

I think the blue was actually blue coral. I have had a few sets of them and have one that my mother gave me about egads...about 45 years ago..

 

I think you're thinking of dyed blue sponge coral. This ain't that.
