Old gold jewelry

    The 2 pieces on chain don't have any markings bust test positive for 12k gold. The round pendant I haven't tested but i don't think it's gold, just want to know what kind of pendant it is, and also what is the piece on chain called.

    That is called a pin with a captive charm....................that form is usually related to a sorority, fraternity or other organization.

    The round one started life as something else,the jump ring and stone setting were added at a later date.... it's a marriage.

    Exactly. It's done to make a piece wearable or useful. The little chained pins may well be gold-filled; most of those pins aren't gold, and the back looks all wrong for something made of gold. The good stuff can register as 12k on a scratch test.

    I did a deep scratch test on my test stone. see the last photo bottom corner of piece. came back positive.

    That's almost surprising, but jewelers back then did some funny things.

    Goofy construction, real precious stones in costume settings, glass in high karat settings, weird backs, you name it.
