Trying to find information on The Brooks furniture of Rochester NY... May not exist anymore. Inherited a beautiful old glass door front cabinet and there was a tag on the shelf that said The Brooks... Wondering if anyone has ever heard of it?

There's an S Brooks Furniture Company (owner Solomon Brooks) listed in the Rochester City Directory in 1919. Since your label says The Brooks Furniture Company, my assumption would be it's a later version of the same firm (perhaps after Solomon died?)

Just realized the flash in center. It says furniture but it's faded. Possible it didn't belong in cabinet. Just thought it could be a lead to help me price it for sale.

Late Victorian circa 1900 oak. You can compare it to similar others from the same era, as the name doesn't necessarily impart any value.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I find some brief mentions of the Brooks Furniture Mfg. Co. of Rochester, NY in old publications from the 1910s-1920s. As Brad mentioned, the name of the manufacturer doesn't necessarily add any value. It looks like a nice cabinet.

I didn't figure the name would add value but thought it might help me place the age better. Looking to sell it and people keep asking how old it is. Thank you for the insight

This could very well be 1890s, i say that because of the feet and dark stain on the quarter sawn oak. America basically ran out of cheap commercial quantities of walnut which is how the golden age of oak got started. This bookcase seems to be built from victorian machine tools & stained dark to simulate walnut.
